GreenSeeker® is a variable rate application and mapping system designed for on-farm use. Unlike aerial and satellite imagery services, GreenSeeker's ground based sensors provide real time data, day or night, regardless of weather conditions. The data can be used to make variable rate applications, map crop health/biomass and vigor, create management zones, identify pest and disease problems, evaluate efficiency of drainage systems, modify soil sampling strategies, monitor and modify irrigation schedules , determine optimum harvesting dates, etc.
Applications
Cotton growers use GreenSeeker to make real time variable rate applications of plant growth regulators and defoliants. Wheat and corn growers use the GreenSeeker to make real-time variable rate applications of nitrogen based on a Yield Potential approach.
Traditional Method
A flat rate of product is applied to the entire field regardless of varying crop conditions. This usually results in either too much or too little material being applied in many parts of the field.
Other Precision Farming Methods
Grid soil samples, aerial or satellite imagery is used to develop prescription maps, subsequently used for making variable rate applications. For imagery, many times the data is collected several days or weeks before actual use due to cloud and weather conditions.
GreenSeeker RT200 Method
Sensor data is used to make decisions based on the conditions of the crop at the time of application. This real time data assures that rates are based on current growing conditions.
Features
- Sensors use red and near infrared light source
- Optical sensors sealed in durable enclosure
- Mapping and data logging functionality
- Software creates .shp files for generating maps
- Compatible with most variable rate controllers
Benefits
- Real time, on the go, Variable Rate Application
- Works in any weather, day or night
- One time investment, no annual contracts or per image charges
- Grower/Crop Consultant determine the application rates
- Maximize yield potential while minimizing input costs
